在台灣、韓國、泰國與香港，這片區域有時被暱稱為「奶茶聯盟」—— 擁有著相似的奶茶愛好，也相似地面對著高度不確定性。十來組來自奶茶聯盟區域的新銳設計團隊不約而同，以臨時公共空間作為執業的起手式。一座只存在一週的亭子； 一處早晚變換用途的市場；一片可能撐三個月，也可能撐二十年的棚架。沒有人說得準。這些不是日後要「畢業」的小案子；正是透過這些作品，一段段執業生涯就此展開，一種看待世界的方式也隨之成形。

這片地區位處多重壓力交會的最前緣—— 地緣政治的張力、地震帶上的風險和不斷加劇的氣候變遷。這些格外極端的壓力，卻也是這個地區一直擁有的生活狀態。設計師們汲取島嶼與濱海地理長久以來的營建智慧—— 創新的方式使用細小的、就地拾得的材料，以及一套精密的共享、修補與再利用機制，其中的迴響，可一路追溯到南島語族交流與遷徙的歷史。這些方法擴充了當代設計的語彙，提供了當今技術掛帥的韌性與永續的另一種可能。當世界其他地方也面對類似的處境，這便成為可以與人分享的經驗—— 如何在一個充滿風險的世界裡，把日子過好。

本展覽首度於 2026 年春季於哈佛大學設計學院展出，台北是其亞洲巡迴的首站，隨後將前往香港、曼谷與首爾。展出的三十件作品，每一件都以一件實物片段與一張現場的紀實照片呈現—— 一片可以觸摸的磁磚、一張可以坐下的沙發、一把可以拿在手上的摺疊陽傘。這些片段皆來自作品本身，被設計者裝進隨身行李、親手帶過太平洋；如今，它們回到初始點。展覽由五個主題串起——「尋找舒適」、「快幀與慢幀」、「許多小東西」、「從圖像到場所」、「一期一會」—— 將在接下來的各展區中逐一展開。

For a dozen or so emerging practices in Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, and Hong Kong — a region sometimes called the Milk Tea Alliance for its shared fondness for the drink and its experience of heightened uncertainty — the starter project is a temporary public space. A pavilion that lasts a week. A market that shifts use between morning and night. A canopy that may stand for three months or twenty years. No one is sure. These are not minor commissions to outgrow. They are the projects through which careers begin and a worldview takes shape.

This geography sits at the forefront of converging pressures — geopolitical tensions, seismic exposure, and accelerating climate risk that are acute now but have always been a condition of the region. The designers draw on the older building habits of an island and coastal geography — the creative use of small, found materials, sophisticated protocols for sharing, repair, and reuse — with resonances reaching deep into Austronesian histories of exchange. These expand the repertoire of contemporary practice and offer alternatives to dominant techno-centric approaches to resilience and sustainability. To the extent that other regions face similar conditions, these are shareable lessons in how to live well in a risky world.

First presented at Harvard's Graduate School of Design in spring 2026, the exhibition begins its regional tour here in Taipei before traveling onward to Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Seoul. The thirty projects on display are each represented by a material fragment and a documentary photograph — a ceramic tile you can touch, a sofa you can sit on, a folding parasol you can carry. These are objects from the projects themselves — many carried across the Pacific in the designers' own luggage, now returning. The exhibition is organized around five themes — In Search of Comfort, Fast Frame Slow Frame, Many Small Things, From Graphic to Place, and A Moment in Time — each explored in the sections that follow.
